The Ravinna Report
Where Is Smart Money Looking Next?
How The Ravinna Report reads a buy: cash in, rent back, and the yield left over — then the Canadian markets on this month’s watchlist.

Most market write-ups start with a city name. The Ravinna Report starts with the money. Ravinna Raveenthiran, Founder and CEO of Nesti, looks at a buy the way an owner would: what you put in, what rent comes back, and whether that rent can carry the property.
These notes are general market research. They are not personal investment advice, and they are not a forecast of returns.
The three numbers
A sample $400,000 rental makes the lens easy to see. Twenty percent down is $80,000 of capital in. If rent is $2,000 a month, that is what comes back before you count costs. Set against the purchase price, that rent is about a 6% gross yield.
- Capital in: the cash the buy actually takes.
- Rent back: what a tenant pays each month.
- Gross yield: rent against the price, before costs.
The same three questions travel from city to city. Only the answers change.
What an edition covers
Each brief stays short. It names the market, the entry story, the rent story, and the projects or jobs that could pull demand. It does not try to replace a full underwriting file.
- Where the buy sits against a larger city nearby.
- Whether rent looks able to carry a simple holding cost.
- What is being built, hired, or funded in the region.
This month’s watchlist
Issue 001 opens with Red Deer, Alberta, then looks at Calgary and New Brunswick, using the same three questions in each market.
